Cathy Inglese, Massachusetts – 2005

Cathy is currently the Head Coach of Women’s Basketball at Boston College.  Her first coaching position was at the University of Vermont where she served as head coach of women’s basketball from 1986-1993.  She then moved to Boston College to assume the position she now holds.

In 2002, Cathy was the Court Coach for USA Basketball, and in 2005, she served as the Assistant Basketball Coach for the USA Basketball at the World College Games in Taiwan.

Her league and board affiliations have included membership in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association where she served on the Kodak All-American Committee, and as a voting member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association/ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.  Her teams have a 338-213 overall record and earned berths in the Sweet 16 in 2003 and 2004.  She recorded her 200th win at Boston College on November 24, 2004.

Cathy was a finalist for the National Coach of the Year in 1991, 1992, and 1993, District I Coach of the Year, and North Atlantic Coach of the Year.  In 1999 she was named the Big East Conference Coach of the Year and in 2004, the New England Division I Coach of the Year.

For the past 15 years, Cathy has been conducting basketball programs for elementary and middle school children at Boston College.  This experience provides opportunities for her players to mentor and interact with future women basketball players.  They are also exposed to life on a college campus long before they are ready to attend.  In 1999, Cathy was the keynote speaker at the annual Massachusetts Celebration of Nation Girls and women in Sport Day.
