
Denitra Seals, Massachusetts – 2016
Denitra, who currently works at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston as the Director of Radiology Research Finance, has been involved with women’s volleyball for over 24 years. She coached girls’ volleyball at Somerville High School for 4 years, leading them to their first state tournament appearances in school history. She was the associate head coach for women’s volleyball at Emmanuel College (MA) for 5 years until becoming the head coach for 9 years. She is also the Senior Woman Administrator at Emmanuel College.
She became involved with the SMASH Volleyball Club in 1997. Within SMASH, Denitra has coached the girls 17s team (2 years) and has been the tournament director for SMASH and the New England Volleyball Association (9 years). She also coached the Metro Volleyball Club girls 15s team (1 year).
Denitra had an outstanding athletic career at Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ) where she lettered 4 years in the Division I women’s volleyball program. She was named the Fairleigh Dickinson University Female Athlete of the Year and the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Woman, Woman of the Year, in 1997. In 2013 and 2014, she was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year. In 2007, she was inducted into the Fairleigh Dickinson University Hall of Fame.
Denitra serves her community as a mentor to female college athletes in career development in the biomedical field.
