
Jane Hale, Rhode Island – 1993
Jane, currently the assistant principal at Middleton, RI, High School, has been an advocate and coach for women’s sports at both the high school and college level as a coach, a director, and a member of governing boards for high school and collegiate athletics and for community programs. She has been the director for Middletown Girls’ Recreation; the women’s tennis (63-8) and basketball (96-24) coach at Salve Regina University where she also functioned as director of women’s athletics for six years; a cheerleading advisor; and the girls’ basketball coach at Middletown High School (122-59). Each year during her coaching career her teams have earned berths in post season tournaments.
From 1989 to present, Jane has served as the Chairperson of the Rhode Island Subcommittee on Girls’ Athletics, and from 1987 to present has been a member of the RI Interscholastic League Committee on Athletics and was its first female voting member. She has also served as the director for the Girls’ State Soccer Championships and director for the girls’ and boys’ State Cross Country Championships.
