Nancy Martens, Massachusetts – 2001

Nancy is a nationally rated basketball and soccer official. In addition to officiating, Nancy has been extensively involved in mentoring and supporting girls’ and women’s sports. For ten years, she was softball director of the MIAA. She is currently in her 15th year as soccer director for the MIAA. For the past 3 years, Nancy has been a participant in a keystone project of the MIAA Girls and Women Sport Equity Committee “Women with Whistles.” The goal of this project is to recruit and train girls and women as basketball officials.

Her board affiliations include the South Suburban Board of Officials (basketball, soccer softball), IAABO (basketball), ECAC (basketball, Division I and II). She officiated both girls and boys high school soccer.

Her post season tournament involvement includes: MIAA high school tournament play in basketball, soccer and softball and Division III collegiate basketball tournament play.

Nancy’s 22 years of contributions to officiating and mentoring have been recognized by the MIAA with the presentation of the 2001 Distinguished Service Award and a Certificate of Recognition for service to high school basketball.
