Nancy O’Neil, Massachusetts – 1993

Nancy is currently the Director of Athletics at Milton Academy.  She began her administrative career in athletics when she became the first woman to serve as the director of physical education and athletics in Hudson, NH, and from there she moved to Needham where she again became the first woman to hold the position of director of physical education and athletics.  During this time she was elected as the first woman president of the Bay State League.

Her coaching career has included coaching field hockey at Northeastern University where her team placed seventh at the National Tournament in 1980 in Illinois and her lacrosse team placed eighth at the National Tournament in West Chester, PA in 1982.

Nancy has been actively involved with professional associations including the AAHPERD Nation Association for Sport and Physical Education and the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport.  She has also served as vice president for Girls’ and Women‘s Sports and president of MAHPERD.

Among her many honors and recognitions are: the MAHPERD Honor Award,1991, the Channel 5 Good Sport Award, 1983, the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award, UMass – Amherst, 1977, and the Three Sport Senior Award, UMass – Amherst, 1977.
