Sara Lupica, Massachusetts – 2018
Sara Lupica began coaching field hockey at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA, in 1989 and again from 1995-2005. She was the Hockomock League and Brockton Enterprise newspaper Coach of the Year in 2004.
The time commitment as a high school varsity coach became a barrier for the elementary school teacher as caring for her elderly parents took precedent. Her love and reaching out to those in need and her interest in helping all ages keep moving and staying healthy motivated her to become a certified personal trainer. The creation of a gym/business in her house with boxing and spinning classes gave her the space and conditions for motivating adults to get in shape. In addition, her Reebok Training for Elementary Brockton (MA) children at the Louis F. Angelo School motivated students in grades 3-5 to stay moving and active.
Currently, in addition to teaching elementary school students, Sara is a personal fitness trainer and assists people in marathon training. She volunteers her time as a “Runner’s Mentor” with fitness, nutrition courses, and support during marathons. She has turned non-runners into marathon runners.
“Throughout my coaching high school and teaching elementary school, I have ALWAYS been an advocate for physical fitness.”
