Stephanie Finn, Massachusetts – 2025

Stephanie Finn, Massachusetts- 2025

Stephanie Finn has spent 24 years championing girls’ and women’s athletics, making a profound difference as an educator, coach, and role model. She currently serves as the Physical Education and Health Department Chair at Plymouth South High School (MA), where she is also the varsity field hockey and varsity softball coach. Finn enters her 21st season at the helm of the field hockey program and her 9th leading the softball team, guiding both programs with a commitment to excellence, character development, and team culture.

Her programs have achieved significant success under her leadership, most notably in softball, where Plymouth South has captured four Patriot League Championships during her tenure. Finn’s coaching excellence has been recognized at both the state and local levels – she was named the MIAA Field Hockey Coach of the Year in 2016 and honored as Wicked Local’s Softball Coach of the Year in 2019. Beyond wins and accolades, Finn has devoted her career to nurturing student-athletes, instilling in them lessons of resilience, teamwork, and leadership that extend far beyond the playing field.

Equally dedicated to growing opportunities for young girls, Finn has worked extensively with youth programs in her community, introducing many athletes to the sport of field hockey. She actively participates in initiatives such as the MIAA Girls and Women in Sports Day and Plymouth South’s own events celebrating female athletes, ensuring that the next generation is both inspired and supported. Her philosophy centers on the belief that every role on a team matters – whether starting or supporting from the bench – and that the true value of athletics lies in building self-esteem, confidence, and life-long leadership skills.

Before becoming a coach, Finn herself was a standout three-sport athlete at Plymouth South, competing in field hockey, basketball, and softball. She went on to play both field hockey and softball at Bridgewater State University, where she earned her degree in Physical Education. Now, as an accomplished coach and educator, Finn continues to honor the legacy of women’s athletics by shaping opportunities for student-athletes and leading with passion, dedication, and purpose.
