Susan M. Hendee, Massachusetts – 2017

After graduation from Springfield College in 1982, Susan taught and coached soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball for four years at Indian Lake Public Schools in New York.  In 1987 she moved to Wilmington (MA) High School as a teacher, and varsity soccer coach.  She has been there for 30 years.

Susan has been recognized as the High School Coach of the Year many times (Lowell Sun -2, Cape Ann League – 1, and Merimack Valley League-1), Eastern Mass DII (2x), Boston Globe (1), NSCAA MA State (2x), and was inducted into the MA State High School Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in 2015.  Her teams have won league titles 8 times, were Division II North finalists in 2012, and state runner-ups in 2013.

As a physical education teacher, Susan also enjoys participating in philanthropic activities – the Pan-Mass Challenge (27 years) and organizing the Pan-Mass Challenge Wilmington Kids Bike Ride (2x).  She also helps raise money through the annual “Kick Cancer” soccer games with Stoneham High School to support the Hope & Family Metastic Breast Cancer Foundation of Wilmington, MA.
