Virginia Parker, New Hampshire – 1992
Virginia has been retired since 1981. During her teaching career she taught in Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. It was during her years in Connecticut (1955-1981) that she compiles her outstanding records in field hockey and track. Her hockey teams amassed 193 wins – 44 losses, while winning numerous district and state championships. Her track team record from 1964-1979 was 132-15. Outside of her school teams, she also coached in the after-school seasons with the AAU.
She has been involved in a great deal of work with the Division for Girls and Women in Sport, attending numerous institutes and serving on planning and rules committees. She also served as a vice president in the Connecticut Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (CAHPERD).
While at Westport, she received many awards, including the CAHPERD Merit Award, Teacher of the Year Award, and was inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
