Vivian’s involvement in girls and women’s sports began during her undergraduate days at Northeastern University.  “While in college, I conducted volleyball clinics and volunteered as assistant coach in track & field at the high school level.  While at Boston Latin Academy, I coached JV volleyball in 1975, varsity volleyball in 1976, girls’ softball in 1975-1976, and was assistant badminton coach in 1976.  I also coached girls’ varsity basketball in 1976.  At English High School, I coached varsity softball in 1981, varsity volleyball in 1980 and 1981, JV basketball in 1981, and JV softball in 2001.  At Boston Latin School I coached softball in 1982, and varsity volleyball from 1982-1992.  Currently at English High School, I am running an intramural badminton program.”

Vivian has been affiliated with the City of Boston League, the Suburban League, and the Dual County League.  She was affiliated with the Massachusetts State College League when she coached at Boston State College.

The 1976 Boston Latin Academy Volleyball Team, coached by Vivian went undefeated during the regular season with a record of 15-0.  They were finalists in the South Sectionals.  Her 1976 softball team had 1 loss and her 1976 basketball team had 1 loss.  While at English High School, her 1980 volleyball team has 2 losses, 1981 softball team has 2 losses, and her 1981 volleyball team had 1 loss and was sectional city champs.  Her 1982 Boston Latin Academy softball team had 1 loss and from 1982-1992 her volleyball teams posted 180 wins and 50 losses.

Post-seasonal play in which her teams participated include: Boston Latin Academy – 1976 volleyball (15-0) and were south finalists, 1976 basketball was South City sectionals played at the Boston Garden, 1976 softball qualified for post season play.  English High School – 1981 softball made the first round of post season play, 1980 and 1981 volleyball teams made the post season tournaments.

In 1992, Vivian was named to the Varsity Club Coaches’ Hall of Fame.
