Bridget Casey, Massachusetts – 2018
Two different sports, two different schools, two different levels, and two different opportunities to work with female athletes – that is what Bridgett Casey has thrived on.
In her thirteen years as varsity softball head coach at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA (1994-2006) Bridgett worked with her student-athletes on the field and also felt a primary obligation to help them find a college fitting their individual needs.
On the collegiate level, Bridgett has coached basketball at Brown University (1 year), Bryant University (3 years) and for 21 years as head coach of women’s basketball at Bridgewater (MA) State University (1997-present). As a collegiate coach, she has the opportunity to recruit student-athletes and help them in having a positive collegiate experience.
Bridgett was named Coach of the Year by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAS) four times (2007-08, 2009-10, 2011-12, and 2012-13). Her teams have been the MASCAC Regular Season Champs five times and MASCAS Tournament Champs six times. Bridgett is proud of her teams’ 311 career victories, but also notes that 14 of her student-athletes have reached the 1000-point mark.
“Not too many people get to do what they love on a daily basis and I am proud to give back to the sport which was so good to me.”
