Ellen E. Mahoney, Connecticut – 1992

Ellen is a teacher-coach at Ledyard High School in Norwich, Connecticut. She has also been an active official with the Eastern Board of Officials, doing high school and college games from 1972 through 1988.

In 1976, Ellen started the softball program at Ledyard High School and has been very successful in coaching both softball and tennis. Her record of 237 – 75 in softball and 161-35 in tennis indicate her success as a coach.

Her softball teams have won seven league titles and have been in five state finals, winning state championships in 1980, 1981, and 1991. Her tennis teams have won seven league titles and hold one state championship title.

She numbers two softball and one tennis “Coach of the Year” awards in addition to a softball umpires Award for Achievement in 1980 and 1988.
