Janice Lange, Vermont – 2001

Janice has recently retired form her position as Assistant Athletic Director for Basic Instruction at the University of Vermont.

During her tenure at UVM she started the cross country program in 1971 and coached it until 1975.  From 1977-1982 she was head coach for the women’s ski team.  She served as meet director for AIAW ski championships in 1977 and 1982.  Following her tenure with NCAA, she directed four ski championships.  From 1975-1982 she was head coach for the women’s ski team and served on the AAW Ski Committee.  She also served as the meet director for the AIAW ski committee for 7 years.  During that time she directed 4 NCAA Ski Championships.  From 1974-1984 Janice was the head coach for field hockey at UVM and also served on the UNFHA as a member of the Board of Directors.

Janice’s teams’ best finish was a third place in the AIAW Championships.  Her overall record in field hockey (1974-1979) was 50-22-14 and from 1980-1984 her teams posted a 90-65-15 record.
Janice is a rated official in field hockey, skiing, lacrosse, and volleyball.

Post-season play records from her teams include: 1979 and 1980 field hockey competitions in ECAC Regional 1A competition.  From 1977-1982, her ski teams placed 3rd and 4th in AIAW ski championships.

In 1995 the NAGWS presented Janice with the Pathfinder Award in recognition of her many contributions to women’s sports.
