Joyce Wong, Connecticut – 2004
Joyce’s coaching has included field hockey and softball at Indiana University (2 years), tennis and basketball (5 years) and tennis (2 years) at Brooklyn College, New York City, and basketball for 21 years at the University of Rochester, NY. She has officiated high school field hockey for 10 years, high school basketball for 15 years, and college basketball for 5 years. Currently, Joyce is the Athletic Director at Eastern Connecticut State University where she has been for 5 years.
Joyce has been affiliated with NAGWS as a National Official (New York City Board of Officials) and a USFHA B Official with the Rochester, New York, Board of Officials.
Her college teams have amassed a record of 312-295. She has been the Coordinator of Women’s Athletics at the University of Rochester for ten years, the Associate Director of Athletics at Rochester for eleven, and the Director of Athletics at Eastern Connecticut State University for five.
Joyce has been recognized by the WBCA as Administrator of the Year. She has received the NYSAIAW Service Award and was recognized by the Women’s sports Foundation “Grass Roots Sports Award”.
Joyce has been involved with many organizations including: NYSAIAW (president and vice president), National Association of Collegiate Women’s Athletic Administrators Association (board of directors), National Association of Division IV Athletic Administrators (president), NCAA Management Control, NCAA Championship committee, NCAA Division III women’s Basketball committee, WBCA Board of Directors, and ECAC vice president Board of Directors.
Joyce has been involved in women’s athletics for over 30 years. At Eastern she established full time coaching positions for women’s field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, softball, volleyball cross-country and track.
