Judith A. Davidson, Connecticut – 1993

Judith, currently the director of athletics at Central Connecticut State University, has been as an advocate for girls and women’s athletics since her high school days.  Following her graduation from UNH in 1966, she entered the physical education profession and has continued teaching and coaching since that time.

Her coaching career in softball, field hockey and basketball covers a 20 year period during which her teams earned many championships: 1986 NCAA Field Hockey Division I National Championship; 1984 USFHA National Indoor Hockey Champions; 1980-1983 and 1985-1987 Big Ten Field Hockey Champions.  Fifty three of her athletes have been named to National and Olympic teams.

Judith was the first woman in the U. S. to be selected as NCAA Division I Athletic Director through a national search.  She has been named the Big Ten Field Hockey Coach of the Year in 1983, 1984, and 1987, and was a participant in the NAGWS Links to Leadership Conference in June, 1992.  She is also listed in the World’s Who’s Who of Women.
