Judy Deeb, Connecticut – 1993
Since 1973, Judy, a teacher of physical education in East Lyme, CT, has been involved in women’s sport. She has coached varsity basketball (1973-1977), softball (1972 – present), and field hockey (1971 – present) at East Lyme High School. She also coached the Nutmeg State Games softball in 1989 through 1991. Judy is also an active official in field hockey and basketball. As an advocate, Judy is involved with the DGWS, the Connecticut High School Coaches Association, the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (softball and field hockey committees), Babe Ruth softball, and is the assistant athletic director at East Lyme High School.
Judy has received many recognitions and citations for her work as a coach and advocate: 1984, the CT High School Coaches Association Outstanding Softball Coach; 1988, the state finalist Amateur Baseball Woman of the Year; 1989, the Golden Diamond Award as the Amateur Baseball Woman of the Year; 1991, the CT Field Hockey Coaches Association Outstanding official Award; and in 1992, the CT High School Coaches Association state nominee for the National High School Softball Coach of the Year.
