June L. Murphy, Massachusetts – 1993

June’s service in the Melrose Public Schools began in 1962 and, since then, she has taught, coached, officiated, and raised a son and a daughter. What better recommendation can one receive than to have one’s superior write that “she has been a tremendous influence on all the students and athletes that she has taught and coached. She makes them all better people, teaching sportsmanship, hard work, and commitment, and is an excellent role model for all those who come in contact with her.”

She has coached softball, field hockey, and basketball at the junior varsity and varsity levels. Her officiating has run the gamut from high school through the collegiate level, with many assignments taking her to state and collegiate tournament play.

June has served elective offices on the Boston Board of Officials and is now an Honorary Life Member of the Board.
