Marie Elena “M’Lena” Gandolfi, Massachusetts – 1996

M’Lena, a teacher at Manchester High School, is affiliated with the Cape Ann League, the Massachusetts Coaches Association, and MAHPERD, MTA, and NEA.

As a junior varsity coach at Deerfield Academy, her field hockey team achieved a 72-1-3 record.  She moved from Deerfield to Manchester High School in 1986.  From 1986-1995, her field hockey team at Manchester recorded a record of 111-43-23.  They were also Division II North Finalists in 1986 and 1990, and were the Cape Ann League Champions in 1990.  In 1991 they were the North semi-finalists, in 1992 the Division II North Finalists and Cape Ann League Champions, in 1994 the Division II North Finalists, in 1995 the Division II North Champions and Division II State Finalists, and the Cape Ann League Champions in 1995.

M’Lena has been named the Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 1990 and 1995; Cape Ann League Coach of the Year in 1986, 1990, 1992 and 1995; and the Salem News Coach of the Year in 1986, 1990, 1992, and 1995.
