Patricia Small, Connecticut – 1993

For over 30 years, Patricia has been coaching tennis and field hockey.  At Roger Ludlow High School, she has served as head coach of tennis for 23 years and head coach of field hockey for 25 years.  She also coached field hockey at Fairfield High School for 7 years.

Her tennis teams have qualified for every state tournament and were Class M state champions in 1983 and Division Champions in 1977 and 1978.  They have an overall record of 193-69.  Her field hockey teams have an overall record of 238-108-66.  They were state champions in 1977, semi-finalists in 1974 and 1975, quarter-finalists in 1973, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 1988, and 1991.  They were the division champions from 1977 through 1979.

Patricia has been awarded a number of coaching awards and was the first woman to be recognized as the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1983.  She was inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1989.

Patricia has also served in numerous capacities on the CT Interscholastic Executive Board for 15 years.  While on the Board, she served as president, parliamentarian, second vice president, chairperson the State Field Hockey Committee, the State Selection Committee, and the site director for numerous tournaments.
